Well, what’s a darn “tweetup” anyway, you may ask? In a nutshell, it’s a new way to socialize and share the event and activities with others online so they can follow along. And it just so happens that HelloNorthGeorgia.com is hosting a social media networking tweetupat Montaluce on Sunday, October 25th at 2pm. It’s a perfect time of year to be visiting the North Georgia Mountains as the leaves begin to change color and the weather begins to cool down, so if you want to come see what the fuss is all about, plan on joining us! And bring your Blackberries and iPhones!
During this event, everyone is encouraged to micro-blog about the event using the hashtag: #ngatu. This allows others who are online using Twitter to follow along by searching on that hashtag. At some events, they may complement the twitter stream with a live broadcast via streaming online video, a chat room or at least a screen displaying the online activity using the hashtag. If you take a look to the right sidebar of this blog you will see the latest tweets by @MontaluceWine, which is very similar to what we are talking about here only with more people and interactivity on a single topic. It’s really an exciting, interactive and fun approach to events and parties in this new social media age.
The tweetup on October 25th is a casual networking event that will present a few networking and media speakers co-mingled with some specials provided by Montaluce: ½ off the first glass of Montaluce wine, and 15% off retail purchases! For more information and to RSVP, please go to HelloNorthGeorgia.com’s event page here.
If this all sounds pretty cool, then here is another tweetup event in the Atlanta area that focuses on tasting wines from Napa’s St. Supery Winery on Tuesday, October 20th from 6:30-9pm. Yes, you taste along with others around the globe and share your insights and notes on those wines together. Once again, you can follow along online using the hashtag #stsupery, or go to one of two locations in the Atlanta Metro area to participate: Murphy’s in Virginia/Highlands or the AWS Wine Room in Roswell. You must RSVP at either location (click the hyperlinks) if you plan to physically attend at either venue since space is limited.
